Summary As the Sr. Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for optimizing the operations of transportation and logistics. This includes strategic planning to ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of goods. You will also be tasked with labor forecasting to anticipate staffing needs and preparing the team for peak season operations. Your role will involve coordinating with various departments to streamline processes, improve delivery times, and enhance overall customer satisfaction.
 
Essential Duties:
 
  • Manage and enhance transportation operations to ensure efficiency, cost control, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Oversee logistics operations, including fleet management, route planning, and supply chain deliveries.
  • Provide hands-on leadership to the transportation team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Mentor and evaluate team performance to build a strong leadership bench.
  • Enhance operational efficiency by streamlining transportation processes, optimizing resource utilization, and controlling costs.
  • Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to track shipping status, metrics, and KPIs. Implement existing technologies to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Responsible for strategic planning, including labor forecasting and peak season preparation, to achieve operational targets.
  • Ensure adherence to transportation regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive projects that optimize operations and improve productivity.
  • Execute favorable contracts with carriers, vendors, and suppliers. 
Education and Experience: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Three to four years of transportation and logistics experience in a consumer goods environment in a leadership capacity.
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and other relevant software tools.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP, TMS and relevant software.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, fleet management, and current industry trends.
  • Strong experience in transportation P&L management with the ability to forecast, manage budgets, and control costs.
