INTERN PROGRAM SUMMARY

Blount’s Internship Program aims to grow students from our community in a way that is mutually beneficial by providing experiential learning opportunities and connecting concepts learned in the classroom to real-world applications in order to contribute to the professional readiness of tomorrow’s workforce. Interns can expect timely feedback, accessible supervisors, bi-weekly meetings with the internship program lead, assistance with career readiness, and networking opportunities.

Summary: The Planning Department Intern will be responsible for assisting the Planning Department team in meeting both departmental and corporate objectives. This individual will have the opportunity to become an instrumental part of the daily supply chain activities, including reporting, and analytics.  This person will utilize computer systems to obtain insights into production scheduling, review finished goods inventory levels, and assist in coordination between Production, Customer Service, Logistics and Purchasing. This person will need to have great organizational and people skills, and a “can do” attitude to be successful in this position.  Successful candidate will be a result driven individual with high energy, while demonstrating a sense of urgency and ability in a high performance-manufacturing environment

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake project as defined by Planning, working concurrently with other departments in order to achieve successful outcome
  • Coordinate with Sales/Logistics Departments to facilitate order fulfillment as necessary
  • Responsible for recipe and work order review to confirm accuracy
  • Cross-departmental interaction to obtain high level understanding of supply chain engagement
  • Organizing Data for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Other responsibilities with similar skill, work conditions, and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements – Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Pursing a degree in a Business-related field, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, or Economics
  • Strong Written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work with urgency under deadlines
  • Eagerness and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work and problem solve.
  • Maintain a positive attitude to continued learning and support of the overall business
