INTERN PROGRAM SUMMARY

Blount’s Internship Program aims to grow students from our community in a way that is mutually beneficial by providing experiential learning opportunities and connecting concepts learned in the classroom to real-world applications in order to contribute to the professional readiness of tomorrow’s workforce. Interns can expect timely feedback, accessible supervisors, bi-weekly meetings with the internship program lead, assistance with career readiness, and networking opportunities.

Summary:

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst Intern is a professional who will report to the Senior Financial Analyst and will assist the Finance and Accounting teams on successful project delivery and departmental efforts including supporting the Financial Planning & Analysis department in administrative activities, analytical discoveries, business data collection, financial reporting, and financial planning. The FP&A Analyst intern position allows a student the opportunity to practice business analysis skills in the manufacturing industry within the Financial Planning & Analysis department.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Utilities reporting by expanding the current quarterly reporting model, and finding a better way to generate data
  • Deep dive into Labor Models, focusing on actuals vs. budgeted, while using the work completed during budgeting to comprehensively analyze labor spend and hours worked; also analyze the impact on the Cost per Pound at a site and manufacturing line level
  • Deep dive into manufacturing variances; once an understanding of activity is developed, focus on creating reports for these variances
  • Enhance the current Supply Chain Reporting – this includes: Procurement (Purchase Price Variance), Logistics, and Pricing
  • Support the Inventory Cost Analyst and entire FP&A team in developing enhancements to the Cost Roll
  • Potential for assisting in setting up Fiscal Year 2024 budget templates dependent of project workload above
  • Other responsibilities may include daily tasks of Financial Analyst – month end reporting, accruals, etc.
  • Any additional responsibilities with similar skill, work conditions, and responsibilities as assigned

 Job Requirements – Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with High Proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • General Business knowledge
  • Demonstrated interest in financial planning and analysis, as well as the manufacturing industry
