Safety Manager

Summary - Overall responsibility for Blount’s Safety programs, HazWaste and Security at the McKinney, TX plant ensuring a safe working environment for all employees. In event of absence, position will be filled by equal level position, Supervisor/Manager, or appropriately trained Supervisor/Manager designee.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other responsibilities w/similar skill and work conditions as assigned.

• Implementation and monitoring of facility safety programs and developing controls for all areas of risk.
• Oversee that all facility employees, contractors, and vendors are in compliance with facility programs.
• Maintain Safety reports, logs, and other documentation to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local agencies.
• Maintain an effective performance measurement process, relative to injury and incident performance.
• Develops, directs, and offers leadership to members of Safety committee. Is at the forefront of driving Safety within the facility.
• Responsible for injury management systems including accident investigations, corrective actions, workers compensation tracking and OSHA recordability. Communicates, offers recommendations, and acts on findings.
• Oversees Emergency Medical Response program including first responders, first aid and support structure and OSHA compliance standards.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all OSHA regulations.
• Organizes, and/or trains on all relevant and required facility Safety programs.
• Works with Supervisors to ensure that all JSA’s are current and develops new as needed.
• Stays involved and active with Insurance monthly meetings
• Oversees general Security issues, matters and events including on-site third-party security staff, access control, video surveillance program, reporting and termination assistance.
• Oversees HazWaste program including manifest, cradle to grave, accumulation and EPA compliance.
• Responsible for Tier II environmental reporting and compliance.

 Responsibilities for Food Safety

• Responsible for completing required paperwork accurately and honestly as applicable.
• Must adhere to all corporate GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and all Food Safety policies.
• Must adhere to all Allergen control programs and procedures as applicable.
• Responsible for reporting suspicious packages, activities, and individuals.

 Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in a related field preferred; or two to three years related experience (OSHA General Industry in manufacturing); or equivalent combination of related education and experience.

 Supervisory Responsibilities

• Oversees and directs the Safety Supervisors. Ensures productive and effective results from the Safety Supervisor position.

 Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• OSHA General Industry safety experience/background required. Not required but EMT or First Responder certificate is helpful. This position requires a valid driver’s license, pre-employment and annual screening of Motor Vehicle Record and personal automobile insurance coverage in accordance with the Blount Fine Foods Employee Handbook.
