Summary: The Corporate Controller will be a strategic partner with the Leadership Team to lead Blount through its next phase of growth and change, focused on measured, incremental Branded growth. The candidate will be a highly collaborative and passionate leader who embodies Blount’s core values and culture.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Corporate Controller is responsible for providing overall strategic and operational direction to the Company’s accounting team, working closely with other leadership team members on the development and execution of corporate initiatives, planning, policies, procedures, and the annual operating plan. The Corporate Controller will drive all financial systems development, internal controls, financial audits, asset protection, reporting and accounting functions including A/R, A/P, credit, treasury, insurance, and risk management.

 The Corporate Controller role requires the ability to function at a broad-based, strategic level, while being capable of driving detailed, tactical execution cross-functionally. More specifically, the Corporate Controller role is tasked with the following:

Serve as an internal leader responsible for all accounting activities, including monthly close process, account reconciliations, cash management, billing, accounts payable and receivable, and tax filing.

  • Build, lead and support the accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and other assigned departments, and develop high performing teams.
  • Oversee Accounting Manager and other direct reports, providing support and assistance as needed.
  • Establish financial policies, practices, and procedures for the Company. Review, update and develop internal control systems and oversee internal audits, providing recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Oversee the management and preparation of all financial reporting activities for the company and its affiliates and subsidiaries, including consolidation, financial and operational reporting, audit, and tax.
  • Manage integration of sales/marketing programs and A/R to ensure expenses are captured within the appropriate accounting period. Review processes routinely and implement improvements as needed.
  • Oversee the annual audit, consulting periodically with external auditors to ensure current accounting standards and legal requirements are met.
  • Oversee cash management activities and covenant compliance and manage and maintain bank, lending, and insurance relationships with outside agents to support company goals.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment, while maintaining a great working environment within the Company.
  • Other responsibilities with similar skill, work conditions, and responsibilities as assigned.

 Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, collaborative individual capable of exercising excellent judgment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field. Master’s degree and/or CPA certification is a plus.
  • Financial experience with mid to large size companies, preferably in a manufacturing business. Familiarity with manufacturing, supply chain and cost accounting.
  • 10+ years of progressive, related finance and accounting experience in a rapidly growing organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to partner with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to plan, lead and manage change. A team play who is able to work under pressure and can resolve conflicts and challenges in a collaborative way.
