Summary – Provide technical support and program management to all manufacturing operations throughout the business (currently 3 facilities). As part of an experienced team, you will also provide technical leadership taking ownership of all control system activities in the manufacturing facilities as required. In the event of an absence, the position will be filled by adequately trained personnel.
Essential Duties :
- Maintain system availability, prepares metrics to evaluate systems performance, and works with stakeholders and users to ensure that service objectives are met.
- Provide input and recommendations regarding business continuance issues and improvements to operating systems and processes.
- Monitor and ensure compliance and conformity to all regulatory and company mandates.
- Provide guidance, technical advice, planning, and project management within the group and outside consultants and vendors.
- Assist departmental objectives by developing strategic roadmaps for Automation.
- Applications and Process Control systems in conjunction with Digital Systems and business management resources.
- Support the establishment of a stable and future-ready digital foundation, including Dashboard development to visualize and analyze data to gain insights, Data integration across critical platforms for business intelligence, and
- Provide training for onsite Users / Engineers in Automation technologies and applications.
- Act as SME for Controls and architecture on Control Systems.
- Define proposals for long term plans for control system maintenance and improvements for management.
- Mentorship of team members on an ongoing basis with a focus on the overall team’s performance.
- Provide key leadership support to your manager, including financial insights as appropriate.
- Lead validation activities during project start-up.
- Project lead control system elements of continuous improvement projects, working closely with facilities management teams/process engineers/ technical support and other departments to deliver.
- Be the project manager and technical lead of the control systems and future integrations,
- Life cycle management of the on-site control systems.
- Manage other projects as designated within Engineering and process improvement arenas.
- Produce Capital project applications with Charter/ detailed quotations/timescales and costs.
Education and Experience
- Ideally, 6 years plus experience in an automation engineering role, leading controls installation for platforms for batch processing in the food or related industry environment.
- Experience of plant start-ups and/or new product introductions to the facilities. Must be able to lead these activities in a start-up environment.
- Working knowledge of Distributed Control Systems such as Rockwell
- Experience administering and/or configuring in data historian systems.
- Experience with coding in standard programming languages required.
- Experience with PLCs (such as Allen-Bradley ControlLogix), programming in ladder logic and instructional texts, and HMI screen development and management would be a plus.
- Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
