Internship Program Summary

Blount’s Internship Program aims to grow students from our community in a way that is mutually beneficial by providing experiential learning opportunities and connecting concepts learned in the classroom to real-world applications in order to contribute to the professional readiness of tomorrow’s workforce. Interns can expect timely feedback, accessible supervisors, bi-weekly meetings with the internship program lead, assistance with career readiness, and networking opportunities.

Summary: This opportunity allows interns to immerse themselves into the purchasing department by overseeing key functions to complete the purchasing cycle. While assisting Corporate Supplies & Services with administrative functions that support day to day fulfillment and long-term strategic supply agreements, interns will gain skills and knowledge for their career in business.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the new raw material and packaging item set upand approval process
  • Fill out New Item Approval PG080 formsand submit to QA for review
  • Coordinate with new vendors and accounting to create new Business Partner accounts in X3
  • Submit and track samples or new raw material and packaging items in development
  • Set up new raw material and packaging items in X3
  • Follow up on new item departmental sign off– send reminders to department leaders when necessary
  • Confirm shipmentsand update purchase orders with accurate ETA information
  • Confirm order pricing and update PO’s in X3
  • Conduct research and submit PG027 forms for extensions on shelf life
  • Conduct weekly inventory counts on PPE
  • Coordinate plant supply package deliveries
  • Other responsibilities with similar skill, work conditions, and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Job Requirements – Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to learn X3, SharePoint, Tableau, and Safety Chain software programs
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and change focus as needed
  • Has a sense for urgency when necessary
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Good project management or organizational skills
  • Eagerness and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work and problem solve.
  • Maintain a positive attitude to continued learning and support of the overall business.

 

Responsibilities for Food Safety

  • Responsible for completing required paperwork accurately and honestly, where applicable.
  • Must adhere to posted GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) when working within the production facility.
  • Responsible for reporting suspicious packages, activities and individuals, where applicable.

 

Education and/or Experience                                       

  • Pursuing a associates or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.
