Summary: The Packaging Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient operation of packaging equipment in Bag/Cup product division. In event of absence, position will be filled by adequately trained personnel.

2nd Shift
Start Time: 2pm (U/H Line)

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate packaging equipment in the area.
  • Ability to maintain processing flow, resulting in established target operational efficiency.
  • Assist the Positional Instructors/Corporate Trainers in effective training of the departmental staff as needed.
  • Track, review and communicate departmental KPIs in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity, waste, yield, Equipment performance. Committed to meeting and exceeding them in daily basis.
  • Troubleshoot/repair equipment related issues. Work closely with Maintenance team in maintaining high level of equipment reliability through shift inspections, preventive maintenance programs. Complete Operate Basic care inspection routes daily basis.
  • Proper start up/shutdown of equipment in the area.
  • Communicate effectively within department to ensure most efficient and productive operation.
  • Ability to learn, operate and adjust multiple packaging equipment and processes.
  • Label verification & line clearance between batches as applicable and needed

Responsibilities for Food Safety

  • Responsible for completing required paperwork accurately and honestly as applicable.
  • Must adhere to all corporate GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and all Food Safety policies.
  • Must adhere to all Allergen control programs and procedures as applicable.
  • Responsible for reporting suspicious packages, activities and individuals.
  • If monitoring CCPs (Critical Control Points), must be trained in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and adhere to approved HACCP plan(s)

Positional accountabilities

  • 100% adherence to all recipe designs; no deviations.
  • 100% adherence to all company GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures); no deviations.
  • Ability through training and appropriate time in the position; to run, adjust, breakdown and reassemble job specific packaging equipment.
  • Understand implications of “down time” and inefficient packaging.
  • Understand how to react to such matters, to minimize downtime incurred.
  • Contribute in proactive approach to address future downtime obstructions.
  • Update Packout Lead/Supervisor on efficiencies and any hindrances to the process.
  • Offer recommendations and solutions to such matters.
  • Utilize designated paperwork/systems to track, verify and adjust efficiencies.
  • Be prepared to explain successes and opportunities.
  • Responsible for “real time” position specific inventory control.
  • Accurate and efficient use of floor level inventory tracking systems.
  • Responsible for any and all line product being put “on hold” or deemed “waste”, as a result of line error or inefficiencies.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience

High School or technical school diploma; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Level II: the ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally in English as it pertains to individual position.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and chart recorders.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Machine Interface (HMI) panels and other basic computer skills

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

This position requires a valid drivers license, pre-employment and annual screening of Motor Vehicle Record and personal automobile insurance coverage in accordance with the Blount Fine Foods Employee Handbook.
