Summary:   This position will aid in the creation of, lead the execution of and monitor strategies related to the assigned raw material categories with an emphasis on total cost of ownership, risk management, and supply security.


Essential Duties:

  • Support departmental strategies through category ownership, including but not limited to leading and execution of RFP’s, contracting & negotiating, understanding total cost of ownership, managing the supply base, ensuring consistent and reliable supply to support production, contract management, and building partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain highly effective collaborative working relationships with leadership and cross functional partners as it relates to strategy development for innovation, productivity, quality, service, and continuous improvement of the assigned categories.
  • Assist in the development of and drive execution of strategies related to the assigned categories with strong emphasis on building partnerships with key suppliers, risk management, and building a secure supply pipeline.
  • Foster vendor relationships that focus on innovation, raw material improvement and creative cost reduction strategies.
  • Maintain regular cross functional communication with production and logistics and participate in floor visits to uncover potential savings and improvement projects.
  • Follow and participate in the improvement of established programs, policies, and practices to produce/source safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the Blount Procurement model utilizing best in class practices around strategic thinking, operational excellence, technology, results, and self-growth.


Education and/or Experience:

  • 3 or more years’ experience of Procurement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in economics, supply chain, engineering, or business with relevant emphasis).
  • Knowledge of or experience purchasing in commodity markets a plus.
